Dean's grandmother (on his dad's side) is dying. We went to visit her in the hospital in Topeka earlier in the week. Dean has been there all day today. She's being taken back to the nursing home and calling in hospice.
A prayer for the dying:
Almighty God, in life and in death we are yours.
Here is that traveller
who has fallen and received many blows and injuries.
You are the physician of souls, our God Samaritan;
in the last hour of this pilgrim take pity
and open the gates of refuge to her.
We entrust her to God who created her.
May she return to you
and may she see her redeemer face to face,
and enjoy the vision of God for ever. Amen.
